She's decided subjecting herself to overdue conscription was her least bad option and her only real chance to get herself out of Earth's slums. Once in, she discovers that not only does she like some parts of army life (is she insane?) but that doing one of the most dangerous jobs on a remote planet fits her better than she feels it should. That's where this tale of soldiery, exploration and war begins.
